A foreigner's look at our country...

Many here are pretty fearful of the going ons in our country. Scares me a bit too hearing the stories especially pointing to things that indicate restlessness and the threat to peace. I love this country although I do wanna leave it to explore the world, adventure so to speak...but I'll be back 1 way or another for sure ;)

Anyway, my Thai friend, a very nice guy, he likes Malaysia for what it is. He is impressed and admires the people here. Hopes his country is more like Malaysia. Many here might use the word police state but he rather describe what governs us here as the Rule of Law. I could argue with that but then I see that he is rather sad for his country in his country, there is no rule of law at the moment. He rather have a police state now. At the moment, over there, everyone is killing each other and getting away with it.

So this got me thinking, we all should take a deep breath and appreciate what we got here for a sec. It's good to go all microscope on our country, we got quite a circus here but from time to time, let's get bird's eye view of the region. In Indonesia, we got terrorism and sectarian violence, in Phillipines, recently more than 50 politicians were mass executed in an ongoing civil war, in Thailand..well that's pretty obvious. The list goes on. As a relative new member of the global community, we are among a select few that has progressed a lot especially among South-east Asian countries. Singapore surpasses our success rate but they're a real police state. Boo !

I'd say a pat on the back is in order. At the very least we are mature enough to fight with pens and technology rather than weapons. In these lands where anything is possible perhaps armed struggle is the one thing Malaysia tdk boleh buat !!! even when things get really heated. That's a rarity in today's world. Hope it remains that way.

Ok, now all back to the microscopes. There is much work to be done !
